A lawsuit filed Monday by an Islamic civil rights group on behalf of Khairullah and other plaintiffs says his exclusion from the White House event demonstrates that Muslims face negative repercussions even after they are able to clear their name from the list. The Secret Service declined to comment on the lawsuit. The FBI's Terrorist Screening Center plays a primary role in the watchlist, though many government agencies are involved in the secretive process. CAIR contends that its lawsuits have uncovered the breadth of government agencies that use the list, from local law enforcement to the State Department to the Secret Service. That's because in most cases, the government refuses to tell people if they've been placed on the list or if they've been removed.

CNN —The United States Secret Service on Monday said it turned away the Muslim mayor of Prospect Park, New Jersey, ahead of the Eid reception at the White House. Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah was not permitted to attend Monday’s Eid reception despite an invitation to the East Room ceremony after his clearance for entry was not approved by Secret Service, the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ New Jersey chapter told CNN in a statement. “Unfortunately we are not able to comment further on the specific protective means and methods used to conduct our security operations at the White House.”The White House referred all questions on the incident to USSS. Normal procedure for guests invited to the White House is that once a guest receives an invitation, they must submit information to the Secret Service via WAVES after which the Secret Service makes the final decision on whether the guest is cleared for entry into the White House. A staffer from the White House social office called Khairullah, but did not offer an explanation on the decision, the mayor told CNN.
Walmart removed a pair of boots from its website that had "KKK" written on the tongue. "We thank Walmart for dropping an online listing for oddly/poorly named 'KKK' boots," CAIR said. The retailer dropped the shoes from its website after it was flagged by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a grassroots civil rights and advocacy group. "We thank Walmart for dropping an online listing for oddly/poorly named 'KKK' boots after we brought this to their attention earlier today," CAIR said in a press release. In 2020, Walmart pledged to improve diversity within its workforce, and donated $100 million to create a center for racial equity.
A teacher in Florida was fired after allegedly disrupting Muslim students as they prayed and accusing them of doing "magic," according to a TikTok video that has gone viral. The video -- which was posted on Thursday and liked over 880,000 times -- shows three Franklin Academy Muslim students performing a prayer as one of them recites "Surah At-Tin" from the Quran. "One-fifth of Muslim families report that the bullying occurred nearly every day," the non-profit said in the report. The bullying was online too, with 31% of the families reporting their child was bullied by other students online and 19% claiming a teacher or school official was the source of the cyber bullying. "In sum, many Muslim children and parents have to worry about religious-based bullying at school and online from other students and even trusted adults in the school," the ISPU said.
